DIY 365 Day Drawing Journal

I've been seeing drawing journals all over the place (like this one) and figured I could make my own! Lucky for me, I had a blank sketchbook just asking to be used. I counted the pages and realized I didn't have enough for a full year so I decided to make a one-drawing-per-every-2-days journal. Has a nice ring to it, huh? I had fun writing the dates on the corners of the page--each one is different!

Day 352: Drawing What to Pack

Today I did a little drawing to show me what to pack.

When I was in college I attended an art show where an artist drew every single item in her house. It was incredible and ever since I have kind of wanted to do it...maybe this was just the beginning!

I've been doodling off and on this week for a special project I have in mind. Nothing in final form...just little doodles.

Day 295: Drawing

Time: hour?
Listening to: two little boys playing superheroes

I had a nice time drawing today during work to amuse the boys I nanny for. I drew an octopus on one boy's head, a raptor (their favorite dino) and at the request of the oldest...a butterfly on his nose. It was nice getting pen on paper--it feels like it has been a while!

Days 256 & 257: Drawing & Painting

Time: 1 1/2 hours
Listening to: Quiet

My little niece will be arriving shortly and I've been wanting to do a little painting for her. I have a little tiny canvas and wanted to do just a cute little painting for her. So I've been working on some little ideas.

Days 242 & 243: Design & Photoshop (Business Cards)

My brother makes some sweet stuff but never has any business cards so I thought I'd furnish him with some! He is in the Grand Rapids, MI area so give him a call if you want any furniture, remodeling, or carpentry work done. Here is a link to his Etsy page if you want any beautiful cutting boards.

Here are my sketches:

Days 222 & 223: Drawing

Since all of my creating supplies are packed up, I am getting a wee bit sick of knitting. So tonight, I grabbed my sketch pad and started doodling different ideas for upcoming projects I'd like to do. Nothing fancy, just nice to mix it up a bit!

Day 194: Drawing

Time: Less than an hour
Listening to: MasterChef

So my husband traveled to Oregon, our soon to be new home, and found us an apartment! I doodled around for a bit tonight and drew some pictures of my soon to be place!

It looks a little bit like a fifth grader's work but...I kinda like it!

Day 191: GIF Shark Drawing

Listening to: Spotify Radio

So I made this little shark toy for my nephew! I got the idea from here!

Day 128: Drawing of Oregon

Time: An hour or two
Listening to: Modern Family and Community

My husband and I are officially moving to Oregon! To bond with the state, I've now become obsessed with replicating the shape. Here are a few drawings that may or may not lead into embroidered wall hangings, pillows, or canvases.

Day 126: Drawing

Time: Hour and a half
Listening to: Birdy---soo good, I've been listening ALL day!

Today I spent some time prepping for an upcoming project. I've been wanting to do an embroidery of my lovely husband and me so here are some pretty rough sketches that I might work from.

Day 125: Drawing/Doodling

Time: Here and there for an hourish
Listening to: Wii Games

My sister-in-law and brother came over last night to play the Wii and eat & drink deliciousness. Between dancing, bowling, and baseball I picked up my sketch book and continued on with my use of Sharpies!

Day 124: Drawing/Doodling

Time: An hour and a half
Listening to: Hart of Dixie

Today at work we hosted a Sharpie Day which consisted of timed drawings, free giveaways and fun things like that. While I didn't get to do any drawing there, I did leave with a purse (small purse) full of new Sharpies!  It was a pretty busy day so I was ready for some rest and alone time when I got home and lucky for me, I had some bad TV watching to catch up on. So I pulled out my sketch pad, picked my new favorite colors and doodled away!

Here are some of my masterpieces:

Day 70: Knitting and an old project (button book)

Time: Eh...
Listening to: Project Runway

So my husband and I got home from work a bit later than usual and then had big plans of dinner and the symphony. This made my hour of creative time a bit rushed. And when I say rushed...I mean not really an hour. My husband took a nap before we left and I slowly watched as the hour I did have to be creative slowly dwindled down. Finally I kicked my butt in gear and took out my needles!

I don't really want to post another picture of my green knitting so I decided to show you a project that I did about a year ago for my friend, Ian. For some reason or another, Ian gave me a list of foods that he absolutely despised. I found the list so delightful! It was such an odd mixture of things and so specific! So I decided to make him a little button book that he could keep with him to remind him what foods he should avoid.

Day 49, 50, 51: Drawing and knitting

Time: Four hours total (ish)
Listening to: unknown

I've been busy drawing flamingos and knitting. My friend came over last night to learn how to make a rug so while he was rug making, I was knitting! It was a nice way to mix up my hour a day quest!

Day 47: Cat Embroidery

I worked on a little Valentine's Day present for my husband (I know, I know...a little late) this evening but instead of showing that I'll reveal a previous secret project! Here is a little kitty I worked on for my friend!

I got the patterns free from Speckless!  They are just so cute, aren't they?! It was hard to pick only one kitty to embroider.

This is my third post about cats. This is ironic because I don't even like cats. Well...I really like them in theory....does that count?

Day 19: Drawing

Time: 1 1/2 hours
Listening to: Mad Men

Tonight was another night of NOT wanting to be creative! To think! To do anything! But, because of my dedication and loyalty to my challenge, I persevered (insert picture of me in a superhero outfit with a cape flowing in the wind).

My husband and I started watching Mad Men and I whipped out my sketch pad and pencils. I had to distract myself from getting angry at all of the gender stereotypes going on in that first episode (and second, and third, and fourth...). I mostly drew ideas for future embroidery projects that I want to make up for some special people--so I don't want to spill the beans in fear that they may find out!

I'm thankful for nights like this because I really enjoy drawing and unless I was feeling lazy and low key, I probably would forget about my little sketchbook!

Day 11: Drawing and Knitting

Time: 35 minutes of drawing, an hour(ish) of knitting
Listening to: The Beatles, Another Earth (watched)

Today's creative time started with a brainstorming session on what I wanted to start embroidering. I've embroidered a bit in the past but sometimes it is hard to come up with my next idea. I sketched two foxes, two bunnies, Nathan when he was about five, and a picture of my mom, dad, and nephew. I'm not sure any of them are going to be my next embroidery project but it was nice putting some thoughts down.

I also added a couple inches on my knitting project! So much more to go!
